A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Are you proving to be an illegitimate child by despising the Lord’s instructions revealed in His Word?

On the road leading to the righteousness of Christ, are you facing rebuke, correction and chastening by the Lord?

Does the chastening of the Lord give way to murmuring and rebellion in you, or does it produce the fruit of righteousness?

DAY # 109

TODAY’S REQUEST:

REMEMBERING THAT NO CHASTENING SEEMS TO BE JOYFUL, BUT IT YIELDS THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Proverbs 3:11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction;
Proverbs 10:17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray.
Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.
Proverbs 13:18 Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, But he who regards a rebuke will be honored.
Proverbs 15:5 A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.
Proverbs 15:10 Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

RECEIVING THE CORRECTION AND LOVING THE INSTRUCTION OF THE LORD
Job 5:17 "Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
Hebrews 12:5-8 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives." 7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
