A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Do you act at times as if you were the most intelligent being on earth?

Have you adopted your own view of good and evil, your own understanding of morals, thus creating your personal religion and deifying yourself?

By rejecting or simply ignoring the word of God, aren’t you pretending to be wiser than the Lord is?

DAY # 256

TODAY’S REQUEST:

NOT TO BE WISE OR RIGHT IN OUR OWN EYES

Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
Isaiah 5:18-25 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, And sin as if with a cart rope; 19 That say, "Let Him make speed and hasten His work, That we may see it; And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, That we may know it." 20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, 23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man! 24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the spirits.
Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.
Proverbs 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Proverbs 26:16 The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly.
Proverbs 28:11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, But the poor who has understanding searches him out.
Proverbs 23:4 Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease!

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

TO CLAIM NOT AS OUR OWN WHAT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US BY GOD

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 22:17-19 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge; 18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips, 19 So that your trust may be in the LORD; I have instructed you today, even you.
Psalms 37:3-5 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Isaiah 55:8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
