A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Doesn’t the evil, the filth, the hatred, and the ungodliness this generation harbor in their heart come out of their lips?

While today’s society tolerates and defends filthy and coarse language, do you give such things access to your eyes and ears?

Isn’t it sad that people pay money to listen to, laugh at, and applaud filthy and vile words uttered by depraved men and women?

DAY # 239

TODAY’S REQUEST:

TO KEEP OUR TONGUE FROM EVIL

AND OUR LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT

Psalms 34:13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.
James 3:8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Psalms 50: 7-23 "Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God! 8 I will not rebuke you for your sacrifices Or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me. 9 I will not take a bull from your house, Nor goats out of your folds.10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness. 13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats? 14 Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High. 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." 16 But to the wicked God says: "What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth, 17 Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you? 18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers. 19 You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son. 21 These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, And set them in order before your eyes. 22 "Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver: 23 Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God."

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN OUR HEARTS

Psalms 15:1-5 LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
James 1:26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
1 Peter 3:10 For "He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
