A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Do circumstances of life affect the stability of your faith in Christ?

What worries you the most, is it food for tomorrow, clothes to wear, money to pay your bills, an illness, a rebellious child, or your eternal destination?

Are you allowing the circumstances of your life to either grow anxiety in your mind or pride in your heart?

DAY # 235

TODAY’S REQUEST:

DETACHMENT FROM CIRCUMSTANCES OF LIFE

1 Peter 1:6-9 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith––the salvation of your souls.
Luke 12:16-25 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 "And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 "So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 ‘And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry."’ 20 "But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ 21 "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." 22 Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23 "Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24 "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25 "And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

REJOICING WITH INEXPRESSIBLE JOY

Proverbs 30:8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches––Feed me with the food allotted to me; 9 Lest I be full and deny You, And say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.
Job 1:21 And he said: "Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD."
Psalms 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.
James 4:13-16 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
