A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Those who live to sin will surely die; those who are dead to sin will surely live eternally!

Are you dead to sin or dead in your sins?

Is the satisfaction of your fleshly desires what you call “happiness”, so that you find an excuse (or a so-called right) to live in sin and for sin?

Do you hate sin or take pleasure in sinning?

DAY # 66

TODAY’S REQUEST:

PRAYING FOR THE MORTIFICATION OF OUR SINS

Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Romans 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another——to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors——not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

WITH VIGILANCE AND WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Mark 14:38 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Romans 13:12-14 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
